Google Wave

I've decided to get a little more serious about developing some skills at web technologies, and I owe it to Google Wave.

When I was in Alabama recently, I watched this hour and 20 minute intro because I didn't have much else to do, and I'm glad I did. It left me with a feeling that has now become familiar. I felt it a couple of years back after hearing (on video) Mark Zuckerburg talk about Facebook as a social operating system. I felt it five years ago after the "church of fools" experiment. I even felt it more than ten years ago after reading "The Road Ahead" by Bill Gates. The "It", in a nutshell, is potential.

What's more, it's frustrating to come out of it into real life, realizing that the technologies that could make life better simply haven't been completely realized yet.

Every time I feel this, I'm inspired to do something about it. For a long time, I've had a passing interest in learning some of these web technologies, but now, I'm really interested in moving forward with them and being a part of that development process. Thanks to VTC.com and their wide range of tutorials, and now a domain and webhost where I can play all I want, hopefully I can be on my way.
