Learning

Last week, possibly even on Wednesday, I discovered that I still had access to the tutorials at VTC.com. Since then, I've identified 63 hours worth of tutorials I wanted to delve into and learn about. I'm pleased to report that I've also just finished the Drupal 6 tutorial, and while I'm far from being a Drupal ninja, at least now I'm comfortable managing several things in Drupal. I've even set up a website for the Hillvue Children's ministry using Drupal under the hood, and other than some theming and image issues, it seems to be working fine. I'll unleash it on the public probably within a week or two.

The full course list that I'd like to go through includes (in roughly the order I expect to do them in):

* PHP
* MySQL
* DNS
* JavaScript
* Ajax
* Ruby on Rails
* Mashups (Web 2.0 Web Apps)
* Java: Introduction to the Java Programming Language

and that's not to mention the general computer tutorials:

* Linux: Introduction to Linux
* C++ Fundamentals
* CompTIA A+ (2006 Objectives)
* TCP/IP for Windows
* Macromedia Flash 5

and the video editing / compositing tutorials:
* Search Engine Optimization 2006
* Adobe Photoshop CS
* Avid Xpress Pro 4.0
* Apple Motion 2
* Apple Soundtrack Pro
* Lightwave 3D Fundamentals

So - I have 11.5 hours of it down, and a bunch more to go, with a hope to get through that 63 hours worth within a month and a half.
